description:
As RSS (Rich Site Summary) Feeds become more popular, an increasing number of easily accessible resources are opening up to our students. In this presentation I will demonstrate how I incorporating RSS Feeds into my hybrid ENG102, first year composition, course. During the presentation, participants will be given instructions to set up their own blog and RSS feed aggregator at Bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com/). Participants will also be given instructions on how to search for and incorporate a variety of different feeds into their account at Bloglines. Finally, after exploring the wide variety of available RSS Feeds, participants will brainstorm ways to incorporate RSS Feeds into their own courses. Participants will leave with their own Bloglines account, a great starter essay about RSS Feeds in education (http://www.weblogg-ed.com/rss_for_ed), discussion of and uses for MCLI’s/Alan Levine’s “Feed to Jave Script” tool (http://jade.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/feed/), and some ideas about how they might incorporate RSS Feeds into their own classes.
More details and presentation materials are available in the Maricopa Learning eXchange package for this session.
