description:
Maricopans have shown a great interest in Digital Storytelling. Currently, Digital Storytelling courses within Maricopa are all taught on Apple computers. While many Art labs are equipped with Macs, most other computer labs use Dell or other PCs, which represents a barrier to using Digital Storytelling in most classrooms.
This package demonstrates the use of Microsoft Producer, a free add-on for PowerPoint, to create Digital Stories. This package cannot demonstrate the process for pulling the stories out of yourself. For that, you can use Dale Doubleday's excellent Digital Story workbook, listed in the "web links" section of this package. I also recommend you attend one of the Digital Story LearnShops sponsored by the Maricopa Center for Learning & Instruction. (There is a link for more information in "web links" section of this package.)
Everything you need for the demonstration is in the supplements section of this package. The first two supplements are handouts with instructions for downloading Producer (the hyperlinks work), and an overview of the process shown in my demo.
I've provided a Zip file of the images and audio I used to create my digital story. You can play with them in order to learn Producer.
Next come the seven demos, all Flash files you can watch online or download to your computer. Take them in order, and go at your own pace.
Finally you'll find a Windows Media Video of my finished digital story.
Have fun, and I do welcome your feedback.
More details and presentation materials are available in the Maricopa Learning eXchange package for this session.
