C/PR (Course /Program Register) =============================== BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TOOL ------------------------- The Curriculum Development Office in the District Educational Development Division has developed the Course/Program Register (C/PR) to provide additional onine access to course and program information. The C/PR system is an extension of the Course Inventory Audit (CIA) which contains information on MCCCD's available courses (course code, title, credit, division, etc.). The C/PR provides on- line access to full course descriptions and requisites, course competencies, and course outlines not found in CIA Program Information includes program competencies and the required program courses associated with the competencies. This supports the Monitoring Academic Progress System (MAPS). IMPORTANT FEATURES OF TOOL -------------------------- C/PR has powerful on-line query capability. Keyword or character string searches can be performed, thereby providing a new way to access course and program information. For example, all course titles that contain a particular word or phrase could be found. WHO WOULD USE THIS TOOL? ------------------------ The Course/Program Register can be used by many different users for different reasons. For example, course descriptions can be used for reference when colleges are planning updates to sources. Checking titles can be helpful for finding topics or different courses. Checking requisites can help users understand how different course changes can affect other courses The Pending courses option allows users to keep track of changes in all courses District-wide. Finally the competencies and outlines can help professors of new courses to know what the approved content of a course is and can help professors of new courses to know what the approved content of a course is and can help other users to see what has been approved when suggesting changes. HOW DOES THE TOOL SUPPORT EFFECTIVE AND LEARNING? ------------------------------------------------- C/PR primarily supports the curriculum development efforts of the Maricopa colleges and centers. It can also be used as an advisement tool. Since data are updated on a monthly basis per MCCCD Governing Board action, administrators, staff, and students can have access to the most current data available on courses.
