HRS (Human Resources System) ============================ BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TOOL ------------------------- The HRS (Human Resources System) is a computerized database tool that allows users to view, update, and produce reports from demographic and employrnent inforrnation about the employees of the Maricopa Community Colleges. It is used for human resources management and personnel/payroll functions. IMPORTANT FEATURES OF TOOL -------------------------- HRS is a centralized database, containing information about all of MCCCD's employees. It is one of the System applications used at Maricopa. HRS is managed by a cooperative team led by the HR information systems function within the employee relations department and the programming and operations functions within ITS. Maricopa's Human Resources System is secure, flexible, and responsive. WHO WOULD USE THIS TOOL? ------------------------ The HRS tool and/or information in the database are used by individuals responsible for administrative, human resources, and payroll functions at the colleges and District Support Services Center. Tailored access is provided to groups on a functional-need basis or to individuals on a need-to-know basis. Extracted information (reports) are used at all levels and at all locations, for a variety of administrative support purposes. HOW DOES THE TOOL SUPPORT EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING? ---------------------------------------------------------- HRS is necessary to compensate teachers and other employees on a timely basis, to administer manyofthe policyagreements (for instance, sabbatical leave and faculty professional growth), and to provide information necessary for funding and accreditation. Finally, HRS supports effective teaching and learning by saving administrative time and money that can be directly spent on educational programs.
