PC (Paycode Conversion) ======================= BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TOOL ------------------------- The Paycode is the two-digit designator used by the computer system to identify the type of faculty assignment for purposes of computing the proper pay for the specific class section being taught. It is made up of the pay type and pay rate. The Paycode Conversion has been modified to allow the user to better discriminate among the types of assignments for schedule building and budget monitoring purposes. This conversion has already taken place at all the colleges although the system will still accept the old pay codes so that historical data can be compatible. Paycodes also feed into the Program Cost Analysis System and Schedule Cost Modeling. The conversion of Paycode has made these tools more accurate and useful. IMPORTANT FEATURES OF TOOL -------------------------- The basic tool associated with the Paycode Conversion provides the user with seven FOCUS reps that are useful in checking faculty assignments and in monitoring loads and budget costs. Other FOCUS reports wlll be added to the tool as users' needs are identified. WHO WOULD USE THIS TOOL? ------------------------ This tool would be used by Personnel Technicians, Deans and Department Chairs to verify the accuracy of assignments and monitor loads and budget impacts as class schedules are built, as well as to produce trend reports for instructional management. HOW DOES THE TOOL SUPPORT EFFCTIVE TEACHlNG AND LEARNING? --------------------------------------------------------- In times of constrained financial resources, these tools will allow Deans and Department Chairs and other administrators to monitor the distribution of faculty loads and budgetary impacts in order to optimize course offerings to meet student needs.
