Voice Mail ========== BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TOOL ------------------------- A computerized system that works in conjunction with your telephone to enable you and others to communicate via recorded messages. IMPORTANT FEATURES OF TOOL -------------------------- + Information Center: Post messages that will be heard by the individuals who call you. + Answering Machine: Record and save messages that have been left for you + Route Messages: Forward/transfer messages to other individuals who have voice mail. + Send Messages: Create and send messages to other individuals who have voice mail. WHO WOULD USE THIS TOOL? ------------------------ + Faculty: Post office hours, teaching schedule, and learning center or tutor information. Indicate procedures for absences or posting of grades. Receive messages from students. + Students: Leave messages for faculty. Receive information that faculty have posted (e.g., office hours, teaching schedules, etc.) + Administration/Staff: Post information pertinent to faculty, students, and other administrators/staff. Receive messages from faculty, students, and other administrators/staff. Send messages to faculty voice mail. HOW DOES THE TOOL SUPPORT EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING? ---------------------------------------------------------- Increased communication and information sharing are both the results of fully utilizing the Voice Mail system. By regularly updating your Voice Mail message and advising students to use the system, some of the class time normally spent on classroom management issues can be used for effective teaching and learning.
