A Journey Worth Taking
Travel Plans and Swapping Stories
(College Activity)
We can learn more about our own journey by hearing how others have made their "travel plans." In this activity, teams from the colleges are paired together to share elements of their existing technology planning and identify the major common issues. The goal is to distill from these discussions the important ideas that can be shared with the rest of the retreat participants.
- Assemble and identify a recorder to take notes. The spokespersons from each college will co-present. [5 minutes]
- Each college team spokesperson shares three strengths of their present planning process as identified in the Wednesday afternoon activity. [15 minutes]
- Discuss answers to the following questions [30 minutes]:
- What should be the common elements of college IT plans?
- What concepts/issues focus the planning on learning and students?
- How do we know what we are doing with technology is effective? How do we measure? What do we measure?
- Summarize the most important pieces to bring back to the entire retreat group. Both spokespersons will be asked to report back in the larger session. [10 minutes]
(See the summary of the group discussions)
