Why PBL?

Donna: Yvonne and I became interested in PBL because we wanted to improve the problem-solving skills of our community college math students.

Yvonne: Yes, during the spring semester of 1996, I was searching through problem-solving resources on the Web. I was looking specifically for teaching techniques, and I discoverd the PBL website at Southern Illinois University Medical School.

Donna: The PBL website provided us with lots of resources and articles. After a month or so of reading about PBL, we decided that we would like to implement it in our math classes.

Yvonne: All of our reading convinced us that PBL was a process that could help us reach our goal.

And so the journey began...
