Coming to America

Evidence suggests that Clovis people hunted large game (megafauna). Some archaeologists argue that this is a misleading picture and that Clovis people were generalized foragers. Why might we get these two pictures?

I think that we get the perception that Clovis people only hunted megafauna mostly because that is all we have evidence of. We find mastadon skeletons with points in them, but we are not likely to find remains of a meal of berries.

I think Russ has a valid point. I would like to see some evidence of the giant ground sloth or even ancient evidence of the horse in some of these archeological finds.

It seems too easy to say that simply because we have found only evidence of the hunting of Mammoths or Mastodons that Clovis people did not hunt smaller species as well as spend considerable time foraging.
