purpose: Allows instructor to create/modify new groups with assigned equations to work on.

access: To use the tool you must log in with the username "admin" and the proper secret password. Note, with the web version you can only modify an existing equations/group. To create new groups or to change the RTF file, you must use the desktop version.

To create a new group, you must create a formatted version of the equation in MS Word and save as RTF format. In the equation, each reactant and product must be preceded by an underscore character ("_"). Also, use a plain dash & greater sign for the arrow ("->"). Best font choice is Times at 18 or 20 point font (though this can be changed inside the application). For example:

The steps for creating a new group/equation in the admin application are:
  1. enter a new name for the group
  2. enter a text description for the equation
  3. import the RTF file from your desktop
  4. use the tools to adjust the width of the equation field and to change the base font size
  5. drag the coefficient buttons to the correct location over the equation
  6. use the buttons to enter the correct answer
  7. submit the data to the multiuser server

status: September 06, 2000. The application is in full working order but not extensively tested.

other features: To be added is ability to monitor progress of groups as they work.
