COMMENTS
The program doesn't need instructions. The color was excellent, but the lack of directional lights was potentially confusing. The written help was sparse and was of a 'next step' variety.

Evaluating the Program as a Tool for Teaching and Learning


  1. How would you use this program in your class? Identify a specific application for part of your curriculum (if possible).
    The program could be used to show good use of color (ART 113). The colors were rich, well-balanced, etc. The detail of the train station was (in places) so good I'm sure it was taken from a real station.
  2. How could this program be used for teaching and learning in other disciplines?
    Creative writing or technology - CAD.
  3. How effective was the simulation environment in providing an enhanced learning experience?
    Other than the above - not very. Style of design was so old - maybe it would look new to a student. Color was rich, warm and inviting. The switch to gray scale was not effective. It looked like they were trying to save memory for full motion video.
  4. What factors might limit the use of this program by instructors?
    The main limitation is the boring and miniature, male (young boy) stance. Also, the lack of diverse ethnic population in the game - everyone looks vaguely like a mad Russian scientist in a bad suit.
  5. Would your recommend this program for teaching and learning? If yes, why would you recommend this program?
    Other than ART 113 or CAD - no.
  6. If no, why would you not recommend this program?
    For reasons stated - too miniature and therefore boring to the adult learner. The screen format is terrible - would have to have a larger screen to be effective at any level.
Additional Comments
I'm curious as to whether this is a common problem with these games; 'Human' figures are creepy - no shoulders - gray, robot-like, etc. I think they can be better - I've seen games using real people - they are better.
