Evaluating the Program as a Tool for Teaching and Learning

  1. How would you use this program in your class? Identify a specific application for part of your curriculum (if possible).
It might be used in sociology, cultural anthropology, or humanities.
  2. How could this program be used for teaching and learning in other disciplines?
I would use the reference mode for use in history of the world, religion or Japanese religion and culture.
  3. How effective was the simulation environment in providing an enhanced learning experience?
The simulation is slow and cumbersome but it can be improved with additional directions.
  4. What factors might limit the use of this program by instructors?
The difficulty in using this without spending lots of time in learning how to apply it for educational outcomes. (The reference mode would be quick and easy.) In other words, you can't throw this someone's way and expect them to immediately know how to apply it to education.
  5. Would your recommend this program for teaching and learning? If yes, why would you recommend this program?
Yes, there's very little on CD for philosophy and religious studies. The reference mode is easily applicable. The simulation needs direction and work but with time it grows on you i.e. I'd play it a while and might buy it. Maybe I'm just bitter about so many incarnations so early in the day.
  6. If no, why would you not recommend this program?
