Evaluating the Program as a Tool for Teaching and Learning

  1. How would you use this program in your class? Identify a specific application for part of your curriculum (if possible).
I would use it for my MTC 195 studio recording classes for discussion of sound design for CD-Rom. For electronic music MTC 191 to show use of MIDI looped music for CD-Rom.
  2. How could this program be used for teaching and learning in other disciplines?
We could use it for our art classes for graphic arts, also for any sort of cross-culture history class ... If the music were a bit more authentic; I would say you could also use it for the music appreciation classes. Also, for the study of Japanese culture and language.
  3. How effective was the simulation environment in providing an enhanced learning experience?
I was listening primarily for sound effects and music ... In these ways it very much enhanced the experience.
  4. What factors might limit the use of this program by instructors?
It is reasonably slow. It also had a very odd interface, and limited on-screen instructions to help when you get lost, which happens fairly easily.
  5. Would your recommend this program for teaching and learning? If yes, why would you recommend this program?
In certain specific classes, I would recommend it for learning (Japanese culture, history); in others I would recommend it more for demonstrations (eg. music, sound classes).
  6. If no, why would you not recommend this program?
Additional Comments
This was enjoyable. I thought it to be a very interesting program. With some modifications in interface and speed, I thought it would work quite well in a classroom situation.
