How to Access and Use League for Innovation iStream

The Innovation Stream (iStream) is the League for Innovation's online resource bank and learning community. You can use iStream as a professional development tool for faculty, staff, and administrators. The publications and presentations available through iStream provide a wealth of information and ideas for college leaders, managers, staff, and faculty.

You also have access to LENs, an outstanding professional development program designed by and for faculty.

As League Board members, all employees of the Maricopa Community Colleges have afree ccess to all materials in the iStream.

What will you find in the iStream?

You have access to a powerful web-based resource that houses a variety of content:

  • all League publications
  • LENs faculty development program modules
  • the League's online conference (video- and audio-streamed keynote and other presentations from the League conferences)
  • LeagueTLC
  • The League's Innovation Database
  • League Radio (audio-streamed interviews and discussions on topics of interest to community colleges)
  • discussion groups centered on topics of interest to community college administrators, faculty, and staff
  • a variety of special online events and interactive capabilities

You can use the interactive features of iStream to join a community of learners in discussions of topics that interest community college educators, to share successful strategies and practices with colleagues around the world, and to seek solutions to problems and challenges you or your college face.

You can interact with the League's corporate partners to learn more about products and services as well as to participate in the development of products and services designed specifically for community colleges.

Ideas for using iStream on your campus include

  • Use League publications as reading circle books.
  • Use conference keynotes and other video-streamed or audio-streamed presentations as the basis for conversations about learning.
  • Use online communities of learners to research successful practices and report back to your college.
  • Organize professional development activities around online conference presentations or special online events.
  • Send an iStream feature of the week (or month) to all-college listservs and invite employees to a brown-bag lunch on Friday to discuss the topic and its relevance to your college.
  • Hold group viewings or virtual fireside chats inspired by online conference and League Radio programs, followed by facilitated conversations about the topic.

How to Access iStream

All faculty, staff, and students with a maricopa e-mail address has automatic access to the iStream. From the main main iStream web site , follow Follow the link in the top left corner Click to login

  1. Enter your Maricopa e-mail address.
  2. Click the link New User.
  3. The instructions that follow let you know that an email message has been sent to you. There is a link in the e-mail message that allows you to confirm your registration as well as alowing you to select a password.

Once inside the iStream Site, you can use the topical categories on the left side, "For Faculty", "For Student Services", "For Support Staff" etc, browse the top links for media types "video", "radio" (streaming audio), "publications", etc. You can also find iStream materials via keyword search.
