Conceptualized by a team of four students and one faculty at Scottsdale Community College, NRU features a game-like 3D environment, itself an exercise in behavioral psychology.
NRU was developed as a CD-ROM application, but we have also converted it to streaming shockwave for web delivery as well as a paper-based version for an evaluation project.
Our initial evaluation showed an improvement in post-test scores by the group that used the computer version, over the scores fo the group that reviewed the paper version and the control group that only received in-class content. NRU was designed by a team of Scottsdale Community College students and psychology instructor Bernie Combs, working in conjunction with the Studio 1151 project (flip for details).
