This is no state secret: the amount of information on the web continues to grow ("explode" is an understatement) at an exponential rate. On one hand this is great news in that there is an increasing amount of content that we can use for research, learning, understanding, and connecting with people. On the other hand it gets lost in the ever growing heap of URLs.

You can find plenty of web sites, books, magazines, classes, conferences, workshops, commercial services, and even TV shows that promise to help you find things on the web. You will find no single entity, formula, or approach that will work to your satisfaction. Finding is an art, not a science, and we hope to show you in this section, a way to start becoming a "web-finding artist", or at least to have you put your fingers in the clay, your brush in the paint, etc.

The reference section lists some of our favorite resources for helping you become that Web Finding Artist, and we also can direct you to another of our tutorials called How to be A WebHound that has been in heavy web rotation since 1996.

For each of the web flavors we introduced in the previous section, this section on Finding you will use some of our suggested "launching" sites to help you zero in on relevant resources within your subject area.

Are you ready to find some great "stuff"? You will not need any specialized heavy equipment (like "boolean search criteria"), just follow our trail.
