FAQ #6: How can I maintain enthusiasm in the face of an overloaded semester?Stephen Brookfield, Distinguished Professor at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota once wrote that
"We teach what we like to learn and the reason many people go into teaching is vicariously to reexperience the primary joy experienced the first time they learned something they loved." If so, here is an opportunity to do something really novel within your discipline, different through collaboration with other science faculty, and, hopefully, academically rewarding by presenting a new avenue to helping students to learn and appreciate the interconnections of the sciences in everyday life. Designing an interdisciplinary science module will be a new approach that will keep you "on your toes" and be a "change of pace." Working "outside the box" can generate and extend one's enthusiasm.
